KINGS CORONATION CELEBRATION 6th may 2023
An excellent turnout at Lodge Union on Saturday 6th May 2023 to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, pictured on the chair of KS is PM Bro Donald Hamilton, his first visit to the lodge for many years.
ANNUAL SPONSORED WALK 2023
On Saturday 29th April, a superb turnout of 56 walkers took part in the lodges annual sponsored walk from strathclyde country park to the lodge premises in Stonehouse, the walkers who finished enjoyed a BBQ & refreshments. the magnificent sum of £3700 was raised by all who took part. A massive thank you goes to all the walkers/sponsors, the brethren of Lodge Hamilton 233 who joined us, K&F butchers for providing the BBQ food at a reduced cost, and Whitelaws coaches for providing the transport to Strathclyde Park.
Annual burns supper jan 13th 2023
The first Burns supper in 3 years took place on Friday 13th January RWM Bro John Thomson welcomed a tremendous turnout of brethren & gentlemen, who were thoroughly entertained by the evenings top table guests, Bro Douglas Baxter piped in the haggis and Bro Allan Greenshields expertly addressed it, the assembled brethren then enjoyed a lovely meal before Bros John Shirkie gave an excellent Immortal memory & Bro Gavin Barrie raised the roof with his memorable toast to the lassies, while Bro Cochrane Gourlay delivered a fantastic tam o shanter, musical accompaniment was given by Bro Andy Macfarlane. Bro Ross Thomson toasted the evenings guests.
The evening was concluded by a rousing rendition of the star of Rabbie Burns.

Great to see the kids back in the lodge for the annual easter egg hunt, all who participated thoroughly enjoyed the day, a bit of normality finally returning.
lORD LAmington trophy 2021
The annual provincial Lord Lamington trophy was held at Carnwath Bowling Club on Saturday 7th August, with 9 teams from the province taking part. There were 4 teams representing Lodge Union 244. The team comprising of Bro Fraser Murdoch, Bro Scott Forrest and Bro Hugh Smith PM retained the trophy for another year.
It was great to be in company of a few brethren from the province who have not saw each other for around 16 months due to the COVID pandemic

ANNUAL BURNS SUPPER 2020
On Friday 17th January 2020, RWM Bro James Macgregor welcomed a full house of gentlemen and brethren to lodge union 244 annual burns supper, the evening began with Bro Greg Templeton piping in the haggis, which was then suitably addressed by Liam Jamieson in a most excellent manner, Bro Billy Syme PM then gave the selkirk grace, before a lovely meal. The evening continued with the top table guests entertaining the crowd, Bro Craig MacDonald PM gave an excellent immortal memory, Bro Ian Bentley with a very entertaining toast to the lassies, Bro Allan Greenshields recited an excellent "Tam O Shanter" both Bro James Kennedy and Bro William Scanlan PM provided traditional songs, Bro Alan McLuckie then toasted the artistes and stewards.
RWM thanked all the top table guests for a most memorable burns supper, with special thanks being afforded to Bro Craig MacDonald for organising the evening.

Lodge Union welcomed nearly 40 brethren and gentlemen to the annual games day on Saturday 28th December, where pool/Darts & Dominoes were hotly contested, Pictured below is Bro Bobby Ewing presenting the winners with their Steak Pie voucher, and the runners up with a bottle of spirits.

On Friday 16th November RWM Bro Ross Thomson welcomed a full house of gentlemen to the Lodges Sportsmans dinner, Bro Bill McMurdo was the MC on the evening and Ex Rangers player Derek Ferguson and comedian and pundit Tam Cowan shared their stories and jokes, another excellent evening in Lodge Union. The annual provincial Lord Lamington trophy was held at Blackwood Victoria Bowling Club on Saturday 16th September, with 15 teams from the province taking part. There were 5 teams representing Lodge Union 244.
One of our teams comprising of the 3 "Wullies"(Syme/McLeish/Cross qualified from their section to the semi final, but were unfortunate to loose out. The eventual winners on the day were Lodge Lockhart St John no 248 Carnwath. A great day was had by all at another successful Lamington bowling tournament. |

LODGE UNION 2017 SPORTMANS DINNER
Saturday September 2nd 2017 saw the return of the lodges sportmans dinner, the RWM Bro Craig Carenduff welcomed a sell out crowd of brethren and gentlemen, who witnessed an excellent evening. An excellent meal was enjoyed by everyone, and then 2 of the most respected after dinner speakers on the circuit - Mr Jim "Buller" Reid and Mr John Gahagan shared their stories and jokes, to which the assembled brethren and gentlemen thoroughly enjoyed.
An excellent sum of £655 was raised on the evening, with the proceeds being donated to the Anthony Nolan trust, a charity which strives for the cure of blood related cancers.

The brethren of lodge union 244 enjoyed another fantastic weekend at troon for our annual golf outing, as you can see from the pictures below, a good time was had by all.

WEST HIGHLAND WAY - APRIL/MAY 2017
On 28th April, 14 brave souls set off on a 5 day trek of the West Highland Way, Its not so much of a walk, but more of an endurance test, the added bonus was the fine weather we had throughout the 5 days, a most enjoyable 5 days was had by us all.

Brother Jim Loudon Leaves Stonehouse:
Brother Jim Loudon left Lodge Union 244, perhaps for the last time, on Saturday 17th September 2016. He and his wife Edna are off to pastures new, some say perhaps going back home to Stevenage to be nearer to their family.
Brother Jim served as Secretary in Lodge Union for many, many years and was a huge supporter of Lodge Union 244, The Airts and Music Nights. He was a fantastic dancer and on any social night he was always on the dance floor. Pictured here, he is having the last dance with his dear with Edna.
The brethren of Lodge Union 244 made a special presentation to Brother Jim at his last masonic meeting on Thursday 8th September, where he replied with his sincere thanks - good luck to them both in their new home.

Lodge union 244 - Kilbryde hospice donation
On Saturday May 14th, Lodge Union 244 held its annual 5 a side football tournament. Teams from Lodge Union 244, Lodge St Thomas 306, Lodge Polmont 793, Lodge Slamannan 484 and Lodge New Monkland Montrose 88 took part on the day, the eventual winners were Lodge Slamannan 484. A grand sum of £600 was raised on the day. Lodge union 244 - 5-A Side Challenge - 2016
Saturday 14th May 2016 saw the annual gathering of the Masonic 5-a-side teams at the Tileworks Park - Stonehouse. 8-Teams took part in the fund raising event for the nominated charity Kilbryde Hospice. Lodge Slamannan were the winning team with their RWM Graham Reid collecting the winners trophy.
